This is not important for you. Because you are looking at an older standard with the AGP2.0 your choices will be narrowed quite a bit. You need too, the right connectivity, that is will a card have one or two outs and are they analog or digital. Since you are only interested in 2D performance, you might find something in an older Matrox (fine Canadian products) maybe the G400. I'll check my stash of older cards/computers and track down a model to suggest. Anything you buy which fits your current machine won't be suitable to put in anything more recent in design. A couple of years is an age in pc hardware. Now for the biggie, consider a new machine. Since you don't need a leading edge games machine, I think you may be very pleasantly surprised at how much computer you can get for a modest sum. Get me off list if you want some suggestions there Cheers Hoppy -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Oliver Bryk Sent: Monday, 25 September 2006 07:10 To: lug@leica-users.org Subject: [Leica] OT: graphics card Along with replacing my 15-year old 19" CRT, should I replace my graphics card (NVIDIA GEForce2 MX/MX 400)? The drivers are current. I'm looking at LCD monitors such as the larger ViewSonic, NEC MultiSync, or Apple Cinema, to give some examples. What properties of a graphics card are important for photo editing? I understand that DVI is necessary for the Apple. My physical limitations for card replacement are: AGP 2.0, 250W power supply, 1800MHz P4 CPU. There is almost 1" of space for the card because the adjacent PCI slot is empty. I neither watch movies nor play games on my desktop PC. Thanks for recommendations, Oliver _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
