Unless you pay a king's ransom for a one-of-a-kind special-built model there's always going to be some kind of compromise. I'd love to have an SL-quality viewscreen in the R8 but that would mean a fully-silvered main mirror and no matrix metering. I can live without matrix metering but what about the vast majority of R8/R9 users? These things are always compromises in one way or another. Deal with it, make it work for you or find another camera! The compromises Leica makes when designing a camera are intended to make the product appeal to the broadest subset of their target market. Not perfect for Joe Average but close enough to ideal that it will sell in large enough numbers to recoup the development costs and then some. You want perfect? Talk to your favorite repair technican, send him/her a camera that's pretty close to your ideal, and open your wallet. Doug Herr Birdman of Sacramento http://www.wildlightphoto.com
