That is the whole image retained to work with, not a smaller portion of the whole frame where you've got potential lesser quality from a smaller file. And the lens performance won't change as you say, but the portion of the image circle that you use will. So you are chopping off the outer zones where the performance must inevitably be lower than the centre area. Of course THEN you need to see what the sensor does with that info, but that's a whole other thread or two right there when the cameras actually start to be used. No way I could focus it to take advantage of the widest aperture anyway. On the other hand, an f2 "75" portrait lens resulting from the Summicron or a 1.4 from the Summilux sounds awfully nice. The focal length of the 50mm Noctilux isn't going to change - the crop factor will be the equivalent of a 75 but the lens performance won't change.
