Cricket test matches played Australia vs England Since 1989, Tests won by Australia 29 won by England 9. Nothing more to say really, is there? Nick you weren't tricked into eating "bush tucker" were you? Those grubs look disgusting. Maybe they'd keep you alive. The question is would it be worth it?? English cooking can't be all bad, I just watched the very luscious Nigella Lawson cook up something or other. FWIW, Australia is actually one of the most urbanised countries on earth. My community right here has a wonderful cultural and gastronomic variety. Next time you visit, I'm pretty sure we can accommodate all food and alcohol tastes as desired. Cheers mate Hoppy -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Nick Roberts Sent: Tuesday, 12 September 2006 18:32 To: Leica Users Group Subject: [Leica] OT: Vegemite, an Australian practical joke You fell for it! Vegemite is an Australian joke. Every Aussie tells you it's the best thing ever (usually "Strewth! It's a beaut" or "It's bonzer, mate!") but have you EVER seen one eating the stuff? They're not that stupid! They get the non-Aussie sucker to eat it whilst chuckling into their near-frozen beer (it has to be that cold so that the tastebuds are numbed enough not to notice the taste - unlike the products of the big US brewers, which are chilled so that you don't notice they don't have any taste at all!). Same thing with "bush tucker" (the bugs I referred to). Now Hoppy's just sore because we've got the Ashes, and our injury-ravaged team has managed to hit a bit of form again... ;) All to be taken with a huge pinch of salty Vegemite, Nick ----- Original Message ---- From: jon.stanton@comcast.net To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> Sent: Tuesday, 12 September, 2006 1:26:29 AM Subject: RE: Re: [Leica] marmite? an english mistake? About 20 years ago during a trainride from San Jose, CA. to Olympia, WA. I shared breakfast with two wonderful ladies from Australia. They said the meal was excellent except for the absence of Vegimite. I made a point of giving it a try at my first opportunity. I think the product I found was made by Kraft foods (?) I found it extremely salty. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "G Hopkinson" <hoppyman@bigpond.net.au> > Vegemite contains: > Yeast extract > Salt > Malt extract > Natural colour > Vegetable extract > Niacin > Thiamine > Riboflavin > Folate > Nope, no bugs.
