I'm with you, Luis. I understand what we have been told about having your M ready to swing up to your eye. When you can have your M at the ready, no question it is the fastest response. Sometimes you can't. There are still lots of photos out there which are not Decisive Moments and I maintain that, if you have a camera with you, carried however, you are way ahead of someone with no camera at all. Salud! Hoppy who used my M to capture a non decisive moment this morning. Took it out of the bag first and everything. Probably why I won't be lining up to collect a Pulitzer this year. -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Luis Ripoll Sent: Thursday, 7 September 2006 08:39 To: 'Leica Users Group' Subject: RE: [Leica] Which camera would you always carry on yourpocket? Yes, I know..., but for my mentality and my work I can't be "dependent" to have a M on my shoulder, when I'm working I'm (generally) concerned only by the work. Luis and camera ready team, Unsurprising that Ted and Steve suggest the M on shoulder. Undeniably the quickest to use, short of held in your hand. Like having your 45 cocked and locked in your hip holster! Really we are talking about degrees of readiness as suits the photographer and their situation. So firstly you need your camera of choice with you, any camera, you can't play if you don't bring one. If having a camera around your neck or on your shoulder is just not practical, then in a pocket means you'll still have one. It just takes a little more time and commitment to use it. I go lots of places where a visible camera slung around the neck or on the shoulder is just not legal or safe or prudent or convenient or just socially OK. But keeping a compact in a pocket or belt case might still be OK in most of those situations. I've shot quite a bit of stuff with the T3 etc where I just wasn't committed enough to be carrying a full size camera. I mean an M. You would need to be even keener if it was a big slr with a zoom or similar. Hi Ted, Maybe (for me) rarely is compatible go to the work thinking on your business and the sense and mental activity to look and search the image. This is my case and why I can't carry every day a "formal" camera like an M, on my every day work I only can carry camera as a complement or accessory, for just in case of, otherwise I should carry too on an other strap another head with a different mentality... Thanks for your opinion, Saludos cordiales, Luis -----Mensaje original----- De: lug-bounces+luisripoll=telefonica.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+luisripoll=telefonica.net@leica-users.org] En nombre de Ted Grant Enviado el: martes, 05 de septiembre de 2006 16:38 Para: Leica Users Group Asunto: Re: [Leica] Which camera would you always carry on yourpocket? Well in reality for shooting quickly and in pretty well all kinds of situations as of today? An M7 on AE lock! Or if and when we ever actually see the real M digital and it works as efficiently as an M7 then I'd carry M8 digital and a Noctilux. ted Ted Grant Photography Limited 1817 Feltham Road Victoria BC V8N 2A4 250-477-2156 _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
