Unfortunately comparing the 30D to the D50 Nikon is like comparing King Kong 
to a Chimpanzee.  They are not in the same class at all.  Don't know 
anything about the Olympus and Sony models, but suspect it is the same 
problem.  Also the Olympus is a smaller sensor to begin with, so there is 
that problem also.

When compared to the Nikon D200, the 30D has not done very well at all, 
except in the high iso area, but even there it was not that much better.  
The price point of the Canon is better, by about $300, but the Nikon is a 
better made and operator friendly box, and easy to use features.
