In a moment of grandfatherly weakness, last year I bought magazine subscriptions for my granddaughter's Girl Scout troop, among them several photography magazines. Each of the magazines features something like "photo of the month" and in all of the issues the photos are "fine art," I think. 90% are digital, manipulated heavily, frequently very abstract or impressionistic, some occasionally striking, most "over the couch" stuff, or "corporate wall" stuff, IMHO. I don't really have a question about all this since I agree with Ric, it's just different, but what I do seem to lack is the artistic sensibility needed to appreciate the difference. In short, at the risk of being really bourgeois, I don't know how to evaluate it. I don't have an acquired set of standards by which to judge it, for myself, and certainly not for others. My 2 cents.
