My Elmar 65/3.5 visoflex 4 element lens has what I would call annoying bokah, it is very high contrast and competes with the subject like a jealous mother. The DR on the other in a similar focus range has a more low contrast bokeh with subtile highlights which is more complementary to the subject. The difference it very palpable. I purchased the 65 elmar 11162 version specifically for it's improved resolution over the 11062 version. Little did I know the higher contrast they threw in would essentially ruin many of the macro images. In color I'm certain they would be fabulous. So it seems that the computational changes for increases contrast tend to render a higher contrast bokeh which in some situations can be undesirable for B&W images. For B&W I found I am more satisfied with the pre ASPH lenses which I can only only assume is due to the lower contrast. Chris S.
