I don't have access to my instruction book at home but if you will look for a LED in the paper path about 1/3 in or out I think a wire is probably shorted. The donor has a hole that allows the LED to see light when when it is at the end. Oh, like all computers have you shut the puppy down and then restarted? I will check my manual and get back to you.
