You're right about the uselessness of photography to effect change these days. When Life Magazine and its competitors were the only game in town, photography had real impact. I think particularly of Eugene Smith and "Minamata." Now we've become inured to suffering through over exposure. Look at how little is being done in New Orleans despite all the photographic and TV coverage. Sad.
