Industry and sometimes commerce require their experience and know-how and network connections. And, when it becomes 60+, then they are still needed for the above, plus the fact that they are no longer seen as c o m p e t i t i o n in the market-place; minding the grandchildren, the dog(s), helping- out with the finances (if still possible) ................... BUT They no longer participate directly in family life, from 70 ............... except in some Latin and non-western countries ................. and that is not only sad, but also a symptom of to-day's world. So, enjoy the years at 50+! B.
