How often do you agitate in the fix? ( Things do not stick if they are constantly in motion...) ( I cheat by using my JOBO....) How do you wash, apply Phoho-Flo etc? Tell us your procedure..... Still no opinion on the dust possibility? Could something have happened and you get a dust storm the day you developed this roll? Vacuum cleaning? Someone running a tile cutting saw, etc... Something that is human or nature caused that creates an inordinate amount of dust.... ( we do in California... I fix that by not developing until the evening, when things calm down a bunch..) Two of the three solutions I put on the film were not completely dissolved. The borax bath in divided D-76 doesn't stay completely dissolved, but borox is so soluble in water, it would have come off in the rinse. I don't know what the cloudiness in the fixer was, but I didn't use distilled water (there is virtually none in the city right now...I went to five stores and found a total of 2 gallons). I'm thinking it is the cloudy stuff in the fix. I'll try distilled and make up the solution a few hours before I use it. I wish I had a magnetic stirrer. Filtering will probably work.... dilution with distilled water will help. But more or less it should be in solution. there should not be a precipitate. Now a better question... why do you have spots on your negatives? You wash after fix, so it is not particles of Fixer that is causing the spots by adhering to the film....... What kind of film? Is there something else that is causing these spots? Dust on your drying area? Or do you suspect a chemical action from this fix that is causing pinholes in your film?
