Subject: [Leica] Small Camera/Folded Optics

to elaborate on what i meant, the actual image on the emulsion
is redirected from the lens by a mirror. the film pack lays
flat on the bottom of the camera, so the lens axis is not
perpendicular to the film plane, but rather nearly parallel
(not exactly as i seem to recall the facia of the camera canted
slightly downwards).

in a "normal" SLR, the lens axis would be perpendicular to the
film plane.

i think "folded optics" is meant to convey that the actual image
recording light path is "folded" rather than merely the viewing
light path.
