Subject: [Leica] Lower 9th Ward - Another 20 images

I'm going to rescan the first two rolls. They were scanned on a medium
format scanner, and my new Nikon 5000ED is doing a better job. I got into a
workflow routine with the latter 6 rolls, so for sake of consistency, I'll
try a rescan.

I expected some people to mention the 24x36 aspect of the shots. I have
tried in most cases (except the squares) to keep the same aspect of 35mm
film rather than boxing it up more in the 8x10 aspect. Surprisingly, I got
no complaints.

Jeffery,

I'm trying to think of something useful to say in the way of constructive
criticism, something that might help you, but I can't think of
anything...you're doing so well...I think you're right on track. I
appreciate the straightforward, documentary nature of your choices...this
is not a case where one would want to go overboard with ultra-wide angle
lenses, etc, etc.

A few faves from this group:

http://www.400tx.com/9th-50.html I'm very partial to these car/tree
comparisons, as I mentioned before.

http://www.400tx.com/9th-48.html Detail of church pews with strong shadows
is very nicely done, especially with the caption, which helps me to
understand it. I think finding both details such as this as well as the
wider shots is important.

http://www.400tx.com/9th-52.html This one is (if you'll forgive the word in
this context) beautiful. The way the light hits the house draws my eye
right to the wave-like pattern of the disrupted siding, and only after that
do my eyes find the upside down pickup truck peeking out. I find these
photos that combine beauty with such horrible destruction to be more
powerful than the destruction shots alone.

Well done, and thanks for showing,
Aaron
