They presumably were unable to make a business of it. Very unfortunate. I also listen to vinyl, having started buying records in the 60s, but not all that often. I have a lot of them and a first class turntable so I can still enjoy. The problem with recommending records is preference. There is no point recommending a record you love to someone with different taste. That is why I don't read reviews any more. I bought a record many years ago which the reviewer raved over but I found banal and uninteresting, I've never repeated the mistake. Here goes a couple of suggestions bearing this in mind :-) If you like folk style guitar you may not know but may enjoy John Renbourne or Bert Jansch records on Transatlantic. They also were part of Pentangle. These are favourites of mine from the 60s which you may not know. My favourite Frank Zappa record is Hot Rats, Jean-Luc Ponty plays electric violin on a couple of tracks and there is a followup album of Jean-Luc playing Zappa compositions, called King Kong. I like anything by "laughing" Lennie Cohen ;-) and Tori Amos. I have all on CD and vinyl, where available. Your pictures have encouraged me to take my camera next time I go to town and record a few things.
