But they had decent "pulling" power ;-)
Funny, in my youth the local lads went in for army surplus vehicles more 
than sportscars, Austin Champs (Rolls Royce engined and about as 
unreliable as you can get), Austin Gipsy, de-commissioned armoured cars, 
early Unimogs and Haflingers, one even had a Volvo "Sugga" (which means 
pig in Swedish - and looks like it too). One lad even had a fully 
amphibious Alvis Stalwart 6-wheeler, makes a Hummer look like a low 
consumption car, and you have to be a mountaineer to get into it. My 
mate Malcolm was the only one wirh anything even distantly related to a 
sportscar - a Triumph Vitesse.
