Imagine trying to add that to your household insurance.

"Hello? Oh, hi there. Yes, I have an amendment to my policy. I'd
like to increase the value of our household contents. Well, I'd like
to double the value of our contents actually. Yes, double. Why? I
bought a camera accessory and it's worth $38,000 USD. Is it
portable? Well, yes. Is it attractive? Yep, to the right kind of
thief, I guess it is. What's that? You wont insure it and you're
canceling our existing policy as of this moment? What am I supposed
to do now?"

Don't laugh. :-) I've had a conversation just like this with
Australia's biggest domestic insurer.
