At least on the IIIf, I found that the difference between the damaged one that I had and no filter was not that important - especially at low-light levels. An interesting question is whether there was a variation in sizing across these filters for the Is,IIs and IIIs because everyone who I met who claimed to have one found that it "didn't quite" fit the aperture on my standard camera.
