It was a flat piece of metal with padded, sliding, viselike, jaws that would clamp rigidly but gently onto anything up to 4" thick, and a marginal but useable ball joint at the other end. I had both the Clamp pod and a lovely Leitz table top tripod with the small Leitz ball joint. I found the clamp pod useful much more of the time than the Leitz. It could convert anything into a useable tripod substitute. (You had to really tighten the Clamp Pod ball joint and make sure it wasn't vibrating). It was also slightly more compact to stow than the Leitz products. Does anyone know of some up-to-date equivalents of the Clamp Pod. ---------------------------------------------------- This mailbox protected from junk email by MailFrontier Desktop from MailFrontier, Inc. http://info.mailfrontier.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Francis, Michael" <michael.francis@gs.com> To: "'Leica Users Group'" <lug@leica-users.org> Sent: Monday, August 08, 2005 3:43 PM Subject: RE: [Leica] Best "table top" tripod? > Another suggestion - www.rei.com search for ultrapod - light compact, no > problem in carry on luggage and only costs $15 - oh and the strap allows it > to be mounted on trees, fences etc. > > -----Original Message----- > From: lug-bounces+michael.francis=gs.com@leica-users.org > [mailto:lug-bounces+michael.francis=gs.com@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of > Alastair Firkin > Sent: Monday, August 08, 2005 2:45 AM > To: Leica Users Group > Subject: Re: [Leica] Best "table top" tripod? > > G0011 with G1175 head: its 12" Packed away about 10" with legs spread to 24" > fully extended with legs spread > > Cheers > On 07/08/2005, at 6:12 AM, Scott McLoughlin wrote: > > > Do you happen to note the model #.
