Jay,

First of all--the images do a good job of capturing the color of old San 
Juan. I have been there many times (my wife is from the island) and this 
is one of the striking features of the place.

Regarding size, in PS do the following:

- first set the image size by using IMAGE SIZE, making sure the 
"resample image" box is checked, and type in the pixel count for the 
largest dimension. If the image is horizontal, I use 750 for width and 
if it is vertical I use 600 for height to make sure it always fits on 
the average 1024x768 monitor with some space to spare for browser 
toolbars and what not.

- then, when you save the file as JPEG, just select the quality level 
that brings the file size to below 100 KB. For web viewing, quality 
levels of 6 or 7 are fully acceptable, and they will definitely bring 
the file size down to where you need it to be.

That is all you need to do. Do not think in terms of resolution, size of 
the image in inches etc. The only thing that matters for web display is 
pixel count as described above.
