There is a Treasury Dept prohibition on US citizens spending money in Cuba. There are a variety of exceptions, including for journalists, academics, official govt business, and many others. See: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1097.html I heard the other day that Ibrahim Ferrer (a famous 50s-era Cuban singer, now almost 80 years old) was denied a US visa to come for a performance on the grounds that he is a threat to national security. Phew, that was close. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3464801.stm Oh yeah, and we caught Cat Stevens too. I sure feel safer now that we've denied entry to the guy who wrote "Peace Train". http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3678694.stm Now is the time to visit Iran, and see this ancient country before it is destroyed. --Jim On Jun 27, 2005, at 11:00 PM, Nathan Wajsman wrote: > But aren't they Communists there?
