Hola F?lix,

Thanks for your comments, I see that we share two things Music & Photo.
About three or four years ago I went to Bilbao only for assist to the
Siegfried performance in your magnificent Palacio.

Good and very interesting question about B&W and colour, well I'll try to
explain the different reasons to use principally B&W:

Probably the first and easiest answer is because I prefer the B&W
atmosphere, IMO B&W concentrates better the attention on the subject, for me
the use of the colour is very difficult because I think that it is not
enough to have nice colours on the environment, I think that colour should
be worked as a expressively manner, i.e. I admire the works of Ernst Haas,
and some others, but in many cases colour was unnecessary to give us a
better image. I think that it was our Catalan photographer Francesc Catal?
Roca who has said that unfortunately on the history of photography the B&W
was invented first.

The second reason is by the colour is frequently altered under artificial
light and for me it is more difficult to reach the atmosphere I want show.
Maybe I can arrive manipulating tones...., but I don't like so much
"manipulate", I like the images as they was take, beside this I don't have
many time for this. The third reason is the scanning process, I've never can
put in my PC a scanned picture with the same quality as I see on a slide, I
know that I don't have a good scanner for this purpose, but even I went to
one of the best colour Labs in Barcelona and Spain (EGM), and I gave them a
roll to scan, the quality was so different as the slides!, I've come back to
discuss with a specialist of the Lab, and he has explained me that they do
his work with a very good professional scanner, but he said me that with a
scanner we can't obtain the requirements I want, and I have tried any more.
I had this experience last September.

Neither the black and white has the same quality with a scanned image than
with a chemical one, but for my taste it is not so different as it is in
colour.

I keep and I enjoy my Pradovit seeing the images on a big screen. The light
goes through the film and it is projected, not through a pixel interpreted
by a software..., maybe I'm to "classical".....

It was a little bit difficult explain all these things in English, I hope
you have understood me.

Saludos cordiales desde Barcelona
Luis

Hi Luis

I do appreciate your pics of such a nice site I have visited so many
times before going to Liceo in Las Ramblas. I specially like this one

http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=496446

But don't you sincerely believe that some of these pictures did merited
color? La Boqueria is a truly explosion of colors and therefore I lack this
quality.

Best regards

Felix
