BUT...When film was the dominant medium, and an M or Leica lenses were looked on as a life-time investment, the price became somewhat more reasonable, especially if the gear was being purchased by a pro for his or her 'tool kit,' or as the only camera a hobbyist would have to buy for 50 years of satisfying use. Now, however, with film fast becoming an asterisk in the photo world, and the dollar heading down the drain, the prices become ludicrous. -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Luis Miguel Casta?eda Sent: Saturday, April 30, 2005 1:51 AM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: Film/digital wars On 30 de abr de 2005, at 0:30, Feli wrote: > but the dollar - Euro exchange rate > has been a huge factor in their problems, because it pushed an already > expensive camera > out of reach of most moderately sane people. Buying a brand new leica in the US is yet cheaper than here in Europe without counting the exchange rate, secondhand costs in US are much better, even the half of the cost around here, many people thinks about buying their leica in the US secondhand market because even adding the duty fees they save money. Leica never was reasonably priced. Saludos ----------------------------------------- http://imaginarymagnitude.net/blog/ _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
