I do not find Athens terribly photogenic. Certainly not in the same league as Italian or Spanish cities. The 35mm will be fine for typical street photography. One thing I really dislike about Athens is that everyone seems to have one focus only, and that is to get as much money out of you as possible. Of course all major cities have their tourist traps, but in my experience the Athenians take this art to the extreme. So, with that in mind, a couple of things to watch for: - do not EVER pay the asking price for anything if you are anywhere near the Akropolis - in the evening, watch out for friendly locals who chat you up and ask you to join them for a drink--they are usually paid to bring you to a strip joint where the drinks are outrageously expensive. Unless of course you do want to go a strip joint... Safety-wise, Athens is OK, but it is definitely one of the rip-off capitals of Europe.
