Subject: [Leica] DMR / motor drive?

The photo magazines have a tight relationship with their advertisers
hence reviews of cameras that are not available yet. Leica is not
exactly a big advertiser so no credits there. Also, Leica is roughly
sold out of their first years production so no benefit to early
announcements: you would not want to upset a potential customer who
rushes out to their local dealer and finds the item on a one year plus
back order.

As to pricing, with 10MP roughly 6K isn't bad as the D2x is 5 and the
1DMkII is 4.5K. Pricing is assuming either a pre-existing R8/R9 or the
intelligence to pick up a used R8 which can still be found at the 1K
price point.

Strange that we haven't seen a DMR review article from one of the
photog magazines yet, given that they hit the streets in a couple of
weeks. I recall reading about new bodies that were reviewed some
months before availability.

Hmm???

Rick.
