There's a company here in the UK that does high quality slides from
digital files for ?1.25 each.  They have a website at
http://www.micro-quiz.co.uk which should tell you all you need to
know, except I don't know if they will ship to the US.

I've seen good quality slide shows using digital projectors, but not
with a projector costing less than $10k :-)
