However, either way, we still have to face the fact the Leica has customers unlike those of other companies - customers that will sink a great deal of cash into a Leica lens that is smaller than the 75 'lux - regardless of quality - just because it says "Leica." The company already offers a 75 that is, unquestionably, one of the best lenses in the entire M line - the 75 Summilux. Yes, it is big for an M lens, but it produces absolutely stunning image quality, whether wide open or stopped down. The only thing against it - and I sold mine because of this - is that 75 is a neither/nor focal length; it's too long to be a 50 and not long enough to be a 90 - which is to say, a short tele. Cosina makes an excellent, tiny, 75 2.5 for those who want a pocketable 75 for some reason. For Leica to start screwing around at this point in time with a 75 Summicron shows how out of touch with current reality the company really is. If they want to introduce lenses, they should be introducing a new superwide for the R, to give the people who buy the R digital back - if and when it appears - a good wide despite the digital multiplication factor.
