You can expose and develop for EI 3200 before you get that kind of grain. http://www.dlridings.com/paw2004/38.html At EI 1600 you can't tell too much at all: http://www.dlridings.com/paw2005/3.html I ran out of Tmax this week, and so did the store. So my shots from this week are with HP5 at 1600. Otherwise, Tmax is really a fine film all around. Both in normal situations and when the light is playing hard to get. I ran out of Xtol this week too. But the first shot is still with Tmax, "exposed" at 800 in D76 1:1. I say "exposed" because in situations like this I think: "What can you hand-hold ... 1/15, ok 1/15 wide-open". Not much real metering involved.
