Fast film -as Peter suggest, a 400 iso C41 b&w film or one of the fast color negative films - or, Tri-X and push it to 800 or 1200; . A reasonably fast lens - I'd suggest the Canon 50 1.8 Serenar screw mount (which I began with on a IIIc a million years ago, or better yet, take a look at the Cosina/"Voigtlander" 50 1.5 Nokton - a lens on a par with the last pre-aspherical version of the Leica Summilux 50 for only $450 new and allot less than that used; . Don't drink allot of coffee before you go shooting handheld at low shutter speeds. ;-) -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Peter Dzwig Sent: Sunday, January 30, 2005 11:20 AM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: IIIf and Low-light conditions cwoods wrote: > I continue to eagerly await the return of my Opa's IIIf which I sent > off to the "spa" for a CLA. You have to be careful and it certainly doessn't provide the same contrast as modern lenses, but for fun, a certain retro feel and the joy of carrying a small package round that can shoot in most light it IS hard to beat. Oh and it's cheaper!! ;-) If you want examples look at my album: http://gallery.leica-users.org/My-album many of which were shot with the Summarit and my PAW which is at: http://gallery.leica-users.org/album164 which has had quite a bit of (very) low-light stuff so far. Hope that this is of some help. More than happy to discuss more on list or off. Peter Dzwig _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
