There isn't any mechanism that is exposed, but the edges of the shutter gate are exposed. Simplest method, no disassembly required: - set the shutter to B, and using a locking cable release, lock the shutter open. - now you have access to the pressure plate - clean off the pressure plate as best you can Absolute method - remove the body shell of the camera. This is actually not very hard, and the instructions are here: http://www.mediajoy.com/en/lrc/ Regards, Vick Ko -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+vick.ko=sympatico.ca@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+vick.ko=sympatico.ca@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Chris Chen Sent: Saturday, January 15, 2005 8:09 PM To: LUG Subject: [Leica] Cleaning The Pressure Plate On A Thread Mount Leica Does anyone have any recommendations on cleaning the pressure plate on a thread mount Leica? Film run through my IIIc is exhibiting horizontal scratches on the outer (non-emulsion) side & I want to make sure it's not a piece of dirt, etc. stuck on the pressure plate (or somewhere else in that area). I've tried using blasts from my "DustGun" canned air, but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick. I've thought about swiping a folded microfiber cloth through the narrow slot, but haven't done so for fear of messing up any sensitive parts (since you can't open the back, I'm pretty much working blind). Thanks in advance for any advice. ===== http://www.furcafe.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Take Yahoo! Mail with you!
