I cannot say I agree with _everything_ you said, and what I am about to say is not a refutation. I do shop at WalMart on occasions when it was convenient on my way to work at a prvious job, also eat at McDonald's. I was glad I got a job at McDonald's flipping hamburgers many years ago. I was even gladder when I found a better job. :-) I haven't shopped at WalMart for a long time, but when I did, I was glad they carried 35mm films I used, and the film processing was inexpensive, fast and reasonably competent, and friendlier than the one camera shop we have in town. I haven't followed the politics of WalMart so I cannot say whether they are a socially responsible company or not. However, just because they buy stuff from China and cater to the low end of the market does not necessarily make them a "bad" company. People from the lower economic rungs of society need to satisfy their consumerism as much as any Yuppy (Shopper's Bill of RIghts :-) ) Besides, for all I know, that cheap stuff "made in China" might actually be outsourced to yet a poorer country like neighbouring Viet Nam, and may be feeding one of my numerous cousins' family. :-) Heck, I take advantage of cheap labor and cheap imports from China all the time, for a long time, every time I go to Chinatown to eat and shop there. I am happy about it, the shopkeepers are happy about it. :-) Anyway ... what were talking about ? :-) - Phong _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
