Why am I subjecting myself to a year of showing off my photography skills to the assembled masses? I have shot as an amateur since I was 13. I have shot a lot of 35, and some quantity of 6x6 and 4x5. Most has been in B+W. But the truth is that I am a terrible procrastinator in the darkroom. I have printed very few of my negatives, and it is time I did something about it. So this year, The Year of the PAW, I am going to get out those old negatives and a) get some darkroom proficiency and b) show off some of my work to others. Do I need to take more pictures? Yes, but that is not my focus. My focus is to use what I already have to produce a portfolio, and to decorate my walls. A friend and I are going to take on a challenge to take pictures once a week for the purpose of tuning our eye. We are planning on shooting a fixed number of pictures ( sounds like 12 is the right number per week, as in 36 / 3 = 12, 120 film has 12 exposures, and maybe only 4 4x5 per week). No motor drive activity, concentrated limited shot photography. I believe this tunes the eye better than the shotgun approach. ( he uses a Nikon D100, so keeping to 12 shots will most likely be impossible, but that is not my problem.) Indulge me, it is going to be a year of improvement, the year of the darkroom, the year of less procrastination, the year of discovery and rediscovery. It will be a year of old and new, 4x5, 6x6 and 35mm negatives, printed in my wet darkroom, scanned, and sent to a WEB page. Don't expect miracles......And I doubt EVERY week will be met, but I am going to try hard to make this happen. I have the first prints made, I have the WEB Page and PAW SW working, now to get the scanner working...... Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net
