the 17-35 would be a better match
the adapter is RF coupled, you use the RF to focus the adapter, and then
transfer the focus distance to the lens distance scale

not as convenient as an M lens, but a lot better than guessing the distance,
and a lot less money than Leica glass if you want to shoot your SLR lens on M
