Here's the 4th Gen. 35/2 Summicron at f/2: http://users.2alpha.com/~pklein/currentpics/PaulChun03.htm Here's the same scene with a 35/1.4 Summilux ASPH: http://users.2alpha.com/~pklein/currentpics/PaulChun00.htm Here's another scene with the Summicron, probably at f/2.8 or f/4: http://users.2alpha.com/~pklein/currentpics/mischabutter.jpg And another with the Summilux ASPH at f/1.7: http://users.2alpha.com/~pklein/musicians/AngieNickClaire.htm The Summilux ASPH bokeh is indeed harsher, but the in-focus stuff is unbelievably good wide open. The classic Summicron is a touch soft at f/2, but perfectly usable. Either lens is superb at f/2.8 or smaller, but the ASPH lens has a bit harsher bokeh. The ASPH's harshness seems to diminish as you stop down, but it's still there. The 35 Summicron ASPH's "look" is very similar to the 35/1.4, just one stop less. --Peter _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
