You do have to remove the body shell, which requires removing all the visible screws from the black exterior of the camera, and the one inner screw behind the lens mount. Then remove the tensioning lever for the self timer. Then remove the lens mount. Then drop the body shell. The self timer is then accessible - perhaps all that is needed is to remove it and soak it in naptha. Look here for details: http://www.mediajoy.com/en/lrc/ http://www.mediajoy.com/en/lrc/loh/index.html Just remember - the craftsmen at Leitz were not magicians, merely very skilled. Whatever they assembled, can be disassembled, serviced, and reassembled. regards, Vick -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+vick.ko=sympatico.ca@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+vick.ko=sympatico.ca@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Dave Sent: Thursday, November 11, 2004 5:16 PM To: lug@leica-users.org Subject: [Leica] Ailing IIIf Hi, I'm new here--been lurking for a while--seems like a terrific group. Have a 1934 (S/N 108xxx) IIc with a 50mm f:3.5 Elmar and a 1954 (S/N 688xxx) IIIf with a 50mm f:1.4 Canon. The IIc works perfectly, but I use it mostly for outdoor work on sunny days, B&W. The IIIf is my daily hack, B&W or color. Problem is, the self-timer on the IIIf has never worked, and I'd like it to (simply because it should). Anyone know how to fix it? The factory manuals I have are'nt much help. Dave Kimes _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group. See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information
