On my last little jaunt for MSNBC, the co-producer checked a Canon digital SLR and his backup Sony laptop in a Pelican case. Both were gone when he opened the case back at Seatac (Seattle). The airline, airport authority, and TSA have all refused to take any responsibility. We used to check equipment in locked Pelican cases with no problem. But now that your locks are routinely cut off, it seems the thieves are having a heyday rifling through people's baggage looking for goodies. So, I ask you again, what in the hell are photographers supposed to do? With experiences like this, you can understand why we "cheat" and stuff things in vests and pockets. --Jim On Oct 7, 2004, at 2:35 PM, animal wrote: > I,d check in the lot and use a heavy duty case like pelicans .Nobody > will open them since the lower decks contents are fryed with high > energy Xrays anyway. > Below the seat storage is becoming problematic in business and first > classes because the set electronics take up more and more room. >
