First off, Nikon didn't reintroduce the S Model any more than Leica reintroduced the O model; Nikon produced a limited edition collectors item, a kind of working version of something the Franklin Mint would put out - just as Leica did with the O. What Nikon's production of that special edition shows is that 1 - they saw a way to make a few bucks in the collector's market; and 2, they understand the emotional ties some people have to that rangefinder line. Keep in mind, btw, the ludicrous prices collectors pay for the S series in good condition. -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Slobodan Dimitrov Sent: Sunday, October 03, 2004 9:40 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: New Zeiss Ikon In the same line of reasoning, one can say that Nikon reintroduced the S model because the rangefinder has been a successful product.
