The scratch and dust removal is really good too. It's supplied with frames for batch processing 35mm, mounted and film strips, large format film and 6x6 , 4.5x6 and 6x7 film. Just one niggle, there's no frame for 6x6 mounted slides - film yes, mounts no. It's also very good as a straightforward scanner and has a whole pile of software in the package, scan software, text recognition etc etc. Apart from the above niggles I can heartily recommend the machine. Of course you don't have to run Photoshop CS, I would like to but it's too expensive for me at the moment. At present I'm using PS Elements 2.0 which has most of the basic functions of CS for a reasonable price (around 50 euros) I read that elements 3.0 has now been released and has a few more advanced capabilities for around this price too. If you've been using Irfan then you will be astounded at what you can do with Elements. Hope this adds more help than confusion regards Douglas achurak@mindspring.com schrieb: >I would like your advice on getting a hardware scanner for inputting > medium format negatives and chromes into my PC. > > The negative / chrome size would be 6 x 6 cm and 6 x 7 cm. > I would like your thoughts on what photo imaging software > to use also. > > I am using existing Intel PCs' with available USB port support and > Microsoft OS of Windows 98 first edition and Windows 2000. > > Do I have to be running Adobe Photoshop CS to use this hardware ? > I am currently running IrfanView software to view and > adjust the existing photo CD's that I have. > > I have been looking at the scanners of Microtek > ( Scanmaker 6800, Scanmaker 6100 pro ), and Epson > ( 4870 photo and Perfection 4870 pro ). > > I would be open to suggestions on other models available > in the $ 140 to $ 600 price range. > > I would like to thank the LUG group in advance for there help. > > Thanks, > > Andrew >_______________________________________________ >Leica Users Group. >See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information > > > -- Ihre bevorzugten Shops, hilfreiche Einkaufs-Hilfen und gro?artige Geschenk Ideen.
