Honest. I should have left well enough alone. :-) As to my thoughts about the E-1 before one was given to me..:-)...It really didn't strike me one way or another, other than my noting that it's more compact than its steroidal brethren. Seriously though? I am struck by the fact that the R8/9Digenheimer has so many sharp edges - there doesn't seem to have been much of an attempt made to give it the appearance of a single, smooth unit. Obviously that has no bearing on performance - which I'm sure will be outstanding for a $7,000 manual focus only, less-than-full-frame digital SLR. ;-) Okay, okay - It's the damn drugs again...What's that Motown line? "I can't help myself..." And seriously - I do appologize. My buddy Buzz even called me, piercing my drug-induced fog to ask if I'd lost my mind... "What?" I shouted into the phone, "I can't hear you...I'm down on the floor looking for my mind." B. D. (With appologies in advance to Mark Rabiner for ripping off his standup routine. :-) ) -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+bdcolen=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Doug Herr Sent: Monday, September 20, 2004 3:14 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] R9 with digital back pix on 9/20/04 11:33 AM, B. D., what did you think of the E-1's appearance before it was handed to you :-) <- note smiley I was put off by the R8's appearance initially but the handling, the viewfinder and the output won me over. I think it best to judge the R digital back by what it can do, which is yet to be determined.
