Hi Greg:

I can't comment because I haven't used a D100 or D1X... but please note 
that one should first check with 
http://home.carolina.rr.com/headshots/Nikonhome.htm to determine if a 
particular lens is "chipable", especially before buying an older lens 
with "chipping" it in mind.
