When the art world sycophants started to mulch in mass on cheap investments with photographs, that's when we started seeing 'new terms.' In America, photography grew, for the most part, without being hampered by outside, meaning mainly European traditions, and went about its way unique to our own historical experience. Control of terms, and the subsequent dialogue, is also control of the future. I think the further we distance ourselves from those so-called European constraints, especially with terms, the better.
