Rei and others should be cognizant in the accuracy of a tape measure.... If
you think it is 6 feet, then to what accuracy is the average tape measure?

The repeatability is fine, it will stay pretty much as you wish... but the
initial accuracy, especially if you are foolish enough to assume your Leica
lens shoudl actually say 6 feet at a real 6 feet, is undefined.
