>Subject: [Leica] help - what do I charge for a shoot??
>> I have been shooting pics of friends and their kids for a year or so.
>> People who have seen my work at friends' houses are asking me shoot
>pics for
>> them.
>> I am now being asked 'What do you charge?'.
>>
>> Well - what do I charge? For friends I have been gifting most prints,
>and
>> charging my cost for reprints.
Commercial Photography: $150 - $250 per hour (depending on format,
complexity, required equipment) plus all expenses of film, processing,
proofs, travel, props, whatever. I generally mark up expenses about 20-25%
to cover spoilage, aquisition, etc. These prices include maintaining a small
office/studio.
Portrait Photography: May be priced the same way; or I'll negotiate a
package (based on the commercial rates) which fits the clients needs.
Images, captured in the stream of living my life, generally sold as
individual art prints to strangers and or distant aquaintences, run between
$75 and $350, depending on size and materials, matted or not, framed or not.
