What the military is guilty of here is unbridled stupidity. When I was watching an episode of "Victory at Sea" in the early 60's, I asked my father why a ship had a huge red cross on it. He replied that it was a hospital ship, and the Japanese were not supposed to bomb it, but they did anyway. When I frowned, he said "We bombed their's too."
