We expect the dealer to sit on $2000 of defective merchandise for 60-90 days while it is shipped back to the manufacturer and hopefully credited back to the account. I say hopefully as the manufacturer has the right to not accept the item back if it is missing anything from the box: anything includes a twist tie. The manufacturer rightfully expects problems to be handled in the warranty morass; we as consumers expect that an item that fails in a short period of time to be replaced. Life just doesn't work that way. We as consumers either buy into paying for service, or, we self insure and deal with the consequences of that decision. This list is great for answers such as you received on the rewind issue. 0.02 Don dorysrus@mindspring.com -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+dorysrus=mindspring.com@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+dorysrus=mindspring.com@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Paul Hardy Carter Sent: Tuesday, May 18, 2004 8:58 AM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] HELP WITH M6 TTL The reasons I ask technical questions about my Leicas here are: 1) I thought that was what this group was for and; 2) I'm usually several thousand miles away from the store where I bought my camera, so I can't exactly "take it back". I asked a question here recently which turned out to be a rewind crank washer-nut problem. Someone here pointed me in the right direction and I fixed it within a few hours, and could get out again taking pictures. This forum is a fabulous means of helping each other out. What's the problem with that? P. _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group. See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information
