I never seem to have right and left sides perfectly seated before I swing the front part up with the tweezers. Could be my astigmatism, poor hand-eye skills, or whatever. The warranty is nice, and I agree with you that I should have a very useful camera if the service is done well. I'm sure that one can find fault with the R4, but I have always found it very pleasurable to use (light amateur use). And I think an R4 in good condition is one of today's bargains. I've never had any problems changing the screen on the first try and never seen any black chunks fall down. Considering they virtually rebuild the camera, I'd say $337 was not bad. Also you can request next day delivery when it is done at no extra charge. Not bad. This includes CLA, replacement of clutch, clean or replace switches, replacement of foam seals, clean my very dirty screen and viewfinder "as well as possible". Sounds like a lot, but the camera has served me perfectly, has the newer 'R' screen, and I am very comfortable with it. When done, I figure I should have an excellent camera for use with all my R lenses. If I went to the second hand market for something affordable, I would have to pay close to $1k for a fairly new used camera, and I would want to do a similar CLA on any older, cheaper camera. Incidentally, everytime I have changed a viewfinder screen on an R camera, it takes me a try or three to get the screen properly seated, and invariably I seem to shake loose some heavy black specks that look like grease-laden dust hunks, appearing on my newly seated screen. I'm virtually certain these come from within the camera. Anyone have similar exeriences or suggestions how I can avoid this? Julian ----- Original Message ----- From: "Douglas M. I'm still looking for an R4mot electronic and a late model R4 for my collection, the basis of which is to find one of the first and one of the last of each SLR model in perfect working order, looks like this may be a little difficult in the case of the first R4 model but I'll keep trying.
