In Iowa all restaurants are smoking, so we have no choice. Sure they have no smoking sections, but when the smoking section is the next isle over (in most cases), we still get bombarded with the smoke. There was a Denny's here in CR, that when you entered you immediately were hit with a heavy cloud of smoke from smokers. We left, it took over an hour to get rid the of the smell. The place is no longer in business. This is no small issue if you have allergies. It is interesting the NY Times last week reported that since the no smoking ban went into effect, the business at NY restaurants has increased. ;-) Gene |---------+--------------------------------------------------------> | | Philippe Orlent <philippe.orlent@pandora.be> | | | Sent by: | | | lug-bounces+grduprey=rockwellcollins.com@leic| | | a-users.org | | | | | | | | | 04/12/2004 02:41 PM | | | Please respond to Leica Users Group | | | | |---------+--------------------------------------------------------> >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> | | cc: | | Subject: Re: [Leica] a new one | >-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| I made the ashtray series. And I smoke. And I know smoking kills. And you don't have to try to convince me to stop. However, when I smoke, and if in presence of others, I always ask if it bothers them. And if it does, I just don't smoke. Even if this implies not smoking in my own home, having a non-smoking wife and kids with unspoiled lungs. It's not because I have a habit that I have to confront others -beloved ones or not- with it. But going as far as banning it (and thus -logically- all other soft, hard, medium, kinda, possible,... drugs) seems one bridge too far for me: I strongly believe in encouraging people to take their own responsabilities.
