I certainly appreciate safety considerations but I would like it to be effective. The USA is behind because they have only come into security checks relatively recently and customers have been used to short delays and huge carryon allowances above security considerations. If there is anything clear about security it is that it is always varying - probably a good thing - and sometimes it seems good and efficient and sometimes mindless and irritating wherever in the world one is. I usually leave from Heathrow and the security seems different each time.
