The tones in the darker areas work well when the lighter areas aren't as affected. Like the face and the circles, gives the photo greater Pop. CI seems to always be the biggest factor with toning, in my own work it rarely works with images like the third.
Is there a reference I could use to learn how to split tone? Or a good PS reference for B&W toning?

In preparation for printing with my new digital darkroom, I have been
experimenting with "toning" B&W photos in photoshop. For this week's PAW,
I selected a "split-toned" version of a photo I took recently:

If you scroll down, you'll see 2 other versions of this shot, as well as
another new photo and one from earlier this year, each in three variations.
I'm leaning toward the split-toned versions, but I'm curious what y'all
think? Too much? Too little? On the right track? Terribly off-base?
Your thoughts would be much appreciated,
