To say one high-end software or hardware "can't match" another simply doesn't help us to understand the differences and/or reasons for choosing one or another. Have you trialled PhaseOne's C1 Pro software? I'd love to know what you don't like about it or why you believe it would impede workflow; as it automatically opens the image in Photoshop upon completion of processing and provides far more controls than Photoshop CS's RAW processor, including dealing with moiré, which is an ongoing issue with high-end digital for professional use. as in:______________________ Date: Thu, 04 Dec 2003 12:19:41 -0800 From: Ken Hansen <ken@hansenphoto.com> To: <prorental@lists.prorental.com> Subject: [Prorental] D1x moire=?ISO-8859-1?B?tA==?= fix, anyone? Reply-To: prorental@lists.prorental.com I recently shot an interior job with my D1x. The ceiling had a bunch of plastic translucent coverings that you would normally find under a 2x4 foot fluorescent fixture. Instead of being backlit and going very white these were used as a design element and were medium to light gray in tone. The small grid pattern moirÈd a bunch and I got dark and light bands besides the pixels discoloring somewhat. I've tried the Quantum Mechanic MoirÈ Eraser. It can get rid of the discolored pixels but not the dark and light bands of moirÈ. Does anyone have a PhotoShop plug-in suggestion or anything that might help me retouch these images? Thanks, Ken ______________________________________________________ <http://www.outbackphoto.com/artofraw/raw_02/essay.html> "Conclusion: There are still some bugs in the software but that is normal with beta software. Otherwise we are very sure that every professional 1Ds owner will need Capture One to get a much more productive workflow. We as Nikon users hope that Phase One gets their Nikon version out as soon as possible. This is clearly the best RAW converter in terms of workflow that we have seen so far for digital SLRs. The fun factor: Most often using other RAW converters is more of a pain. Capture One is fun to use once the initial learning phase is over."
